Preparation course for the DITALS exam

DITALS is a professional qualification issued by the Università per Stranieri di Siena which evaluates both the theoretical and practical level for individuals wishing to teach Italian as a foreign language.
In many cases DITALS certification is considered a preferred qualification as far as the recruitment of Italian teachers is concerned. Furthermore, some universities recognize the DITALS certification for credit gaining purposes.
Eurocentres Firenze is an authorised training centre for the organisation of preparation courses for the DITALS exam.
Course duration:
- 2 weeks, 30 course hours
- From Monday to Friday, from 15:00 to 18:00
Dates:
- from 4th to 15th June 2012
- from 5th to 16th November 2012
Exam dates:
- DITALS I livello: 20th February 2012, 8th October 2012
- DITALS II livello: 12th December 2011, 16th July 2012, 17th December 2012
Cost:
The preparation course for the DITALS exam costs € 450 + € 70 enrolment fee. This includes all teaching materials and the teaching internship (60 hours).

Analysis of teaching materials
- Presentation
- Common European Framework of Reference. L2/LS qualifications. Various learner profiles.
- Different approaches and methods in foreign language teaching (student centred learning, authentic materials, role of the teacher, mime and gestures)
- Skills. Techniques for developing skills.
- Analysis criteria for teaching materials. Viewing and comment of an example. Practice exercise.
Development of teaching materials
- The teaching unit. Construction of the teaching unit for various learner profiles.
- Pair and group work.
- Grammar.
- Mistakes.
- Checking and evaluation techniques.
- Use of technologies in the teaching of Italian as a foreign language
- The didactics of video.
- Children.
- Practice exercise: planning of a teaching unit on a given topic; use of a given test; construction of a test on a given topic.
Foreign language teaching theory
- Principles of foreign language teaching
- Basics of sociolinguistics
- Varieties and uses of contemporary Italian
- Italian culture
- Class interaction: dynamics, student disposition, critical situations.
Foreign language teaching – oral skills
- Trial explanation of an assigned grammatical topic
- Provide instructions for the completion of a task based on a given text and in relation to a particular type of learner.
